Hi, my name is Richard and I was lucky enough to receive a heart transplant in December 2023. Talking to other patients, it's clear to me that there are a lot of questions around the whole transplant process, from assessment through to aftercare. As someone who was born with a heart condition and now working as a Psychotherapist, I feel that I would like to offer a place for patient empowerment, information sharing and demystification of the transplant journey.
My vision for this blog would be to invite others to contribute from their own lived experience and expertise, to get a broader perspective than just my personal understanding. I plan to include reference to other resources, such as other blogs, websites, events and literature that can inform us.
This week is Organ donation week and I have used that as a reason to launch this blog now. I hope to engage with you as we go along.
